FOLLOWERS OF JESUS
A follower of Jesus is also called a disciple of Jesus who believes and trusts in Him. We choose to follow the living JESUS and grow in a personal relationship with Him. A supernatural work takes place. God, through the Holy Spirit comes into our hearts and we know we are a loved children of God. The word disciple means 'learner' and as we learn of God, transformation begins by the power of His Spirit,
changing us into the one we follow - Jesus.
This radical new life with Jesus is leaving behind our old way of doing things and discovering the joy of living for God and others. Reading God's Word (the bible), prayer and worship in a local JESUS centred church with other followers are essential to nurture faith and grow strong to share in this salvation story and discover the best purpose for living.
The church is not a building, a business, a social club, or a denomination. Who is church? People who believe in and follow Jesus.
The church is a people community centred on JESUS, proclaiming God's Word and filled with His Spirit, following the way of Jesus together. While individuals choose to follow Jesus, we don't follow Jesus alone. The local church is God's design and purpose for every believer. The church is a new multi ethnic people marked by love, growing in unity with much diversity. The church exists for three reasons:
1) To Worship God. 2) To Care and Nurture one another. 3) To Communicate the message of Jesus to our world.
The GLOBAL church is all followers of Jesus in all locations. The LOCAL church is particular followers of Jesus in a particular location.
The LOCAL church gathers regularly to worship God and scatters daily to communicate and reflect God's goodness, taking His character everywhere we go. The church is God's strategy for reaching our world and the church is the most concrete evidence of God's presence in our world as we are being transformed by His love.
Church health is optimal when there are servant leaders with spiritual gifts who are entrusted by God to teach His Word, lead by example, care and protect all people and administer the affairs of the church with integrity
God says these kind of leaders are worthy of double honour.
As Voyage grows, we desire to see men and women identified, established and equiped who are proven in F.A.I.T.H.
It is vital to raise up leaders who will protect, nurture, and equip people for ministry, teaching the truth in love about JESUS and His mission and to put the cause of Christ and the health of His church above all else
We pursue humble, transparent and accountable spiritual leadership where every leaders is a servant and every shepherd is a sheep of the greatest shepherd, JESUS.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We believe in God the Father, the first person in the triune Godhead, believe in God the Son the Lord Jesus Christ, supernaturally conceived and born of the virgin Mary. He was and is without sin, that in and through His death, burial and resurrection, we have redemption. We believe in God the Holy Spirit, the third person of the triune Godhead who proceeds from the Father and the Son, ever present and is active in revealing all things and active to convict and set apart the believer to holiness. He is totally loving, just and completely holy.
We believe the Bible is the Word of God and both the Old and New Testament are inspired by God. The Scriptures are the revelation of His heart, trustworthy and authoritative to instruct us in all things relating to life, conduct and our faith.
We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives resulting in both physical and spiritual death.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ as both God and man is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory over death, sin and Satan, to restore us into a right relationship with God and empower us for life.
We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and a new life in God we must repent of our sins, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives. Our eternal destination of either heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that in order to live the holy and fruitful lives that God intends for us, we need to be baptised in water and be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit also enables us to use spiritual gifts, which includes speaking in tongues. The orderly operation of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit as expressed individually and corporately are to be motivated by love for the encouragement and empowerment of the Church.
We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ in this present world and includes all who are born again. The mission of the church is to proclaim the Good News of Jesus. This includes the preaching to every nation, corporate worship, compassion to the poor and suffering and the equiping of all believers by spiritual leadership to bring the church to full maturity.
We believe the two main ordinances of the Church are water baptism by full immersion and partaking in in the Lords Supper (Communion).
We believe in the growth of the individual Christian and that we belong to God, set apart for Him. Through a process of transformation, and a responsible and accountable lifestyle God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives which is to worship God, make disciples of Jesus, fulfil our role in the Church and serve the community in which we live.
We believe Jesus Christ will return and gather His people to Himself as He promised. There will be a final judgement for all humanity and that ultimately all will bow the knee to Jesus Christ for eternity and He will determine each persons eternal destiny.
